I just got my 87 Iroc up and running, here are a few brief specs:

- 409 SBC
- Holley 750
- Headers
- Moser 9" Rearend
- 35 Spline Detroit Locker

Nothing special, but hey I am just starting. My next step is the exhaust,
I currently have headers dropping into the Y-pipe then 3" all of the way
back to a factory style muffler. I also have a cut-out in the middle of
the pass. door that I can attach a custom pipe to do dump out of the
side. What are your suggestions to the best street (not necessarily legal)
exhaust setup?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
BRYDON

For a fairly mild engine, you can stick with 1-5/8" shorties, 2-1/2" downpipes, and 3" on back. Hooker 2055HKR shorties & y-pipe are very good in that case.

If your engine is a little healthier, and you can live with a little loss of ground clearance, then Hooker 2210HKR long tubes with 2-1/2" duals out the back will free up some ponies. The duals will have to be fabricated, and the header install isn't a simple bolt-in.

what i did on my 88 iroc with 406 550hp + 300hp n2o was hooker 1 3/4 long tubes and custom dual 3 1/2 oval into dual 3 1/2 oval flowmasters that was about 9 years ago it was very loud around town but it sounded evil. I made a couple of resonators and stuffed in the tailpipes, which had to turn out in front of the rear tires, they toned it down alot for street driving
