Hey huys im new to the site, im in the U.S. Navy and im currently in Italy but ill be in the states in 5 to six months. Im buying a car when I get back and im wanting something with a mean V8. So im looking at getting the impala SS I just got a few questions. What kind of numbers does it lay down (hp, torque, 0-60, top speed). And whats some of the stuff you guys have done to your cars mods wise? thanks for all the info you can give me.

Well... the stock ratings are 260hp, 335 tq... But I think we all feel that may be a little on the consevative side.
Stock, most will put down a 1/4 mile time of abot 15.0 at 90 mph, in typical weather.
Also keep in mind, that alot of the 94-96 Caprice 9C1(poilce cars), have the LT1 in them, and they EVERY 94-96: Impala SS, Caprice Wagon, Buick Roadmaster sedan, Buick Roadmaster Wagon, and Cadillac Fleetwood.... have the LT1 350, 5.7L... And they are the EXACT same engine.
The Impala SS was more of a lowered/handleing package, with some nice visual touches, 17" rims, and added luxury items... add on to a... get this... Police Issued caprice, with the optioned LT1.
Same frame, brakes, body, sway bars, virtually the same spring rates(the police issue was actually stiffer... and the tow pak civilan caprices a touch stiffer yet. the Impala was just lowered by 2". Same rear axle(almost... the impala one is a lil wider to make the rims sit flush), same 3.08 gears, and posi(optional on 9C1), same trans, same trans coolers, oil coolers(I actually think the 9C1 has more fluid coolers)... and so on...
Even the Buicks/Caddys got alot of the HD stuff standard.
And actually, the 9C1 got better body bushings... the impala was attached to the frame by a washer, and a gap in some spots... where as the 9C1 had a bushing to control things better, but transmitted more to the cabin.
Ok, sorry... point being, a 9C1 is a great foundation, and MUCH cheaper to start with. If your gonna add your own custom suspension, and seats(or just grab some Impala seats), and all that. Many MANY "clones", and good ones at that, for much more reasonable prices.
As you can see in my sig, my 96 9C1 has really started hauling ass. Things done to it were:
Tb Bypass.... makes it so coolant doesn't enter the intake, and keeps the incoming air cooler(takes like 2 minutes to do)
K&N FIRK intake, which I am about to sell for my own much cheaper PVC intake
Flowtech Afterburner headers
Hooker catback
PCM reprogramed
Stock 3.08's and Posi
Stock torque converter
Stock Cam
Stock un touched heads
Valve covers never even removed
Runs were done on 235 street tires.
and thats pretty much it.
my Buick has run(it was a HOT day) a 15.0, with:
TB bypass
PVC intake
new Comps cams valve springs(LT1's NEED them)
Clear Image Tri Y's headers
Stock 2.56 gears, no posi
Stock everything else
275 drag radials
Corrected to the conditions it ran a 14.88(D/A of Sea Level), and the car woulda gone 14.5
Check out the ImpalaSSforum for all the info one could EVER ask for.
And do a few searches, as they may bite a newb a lil for ask what makes the Imp special(which it really isn't so much)...
One of my friends has his roadmaster going 13.5.... stock cam, and stock heads, stil an un rebuilt 350.
Headers
catback
valve springs
1.6 rockers
"ram air" intake
3.73's + posi
2800 stall converter(drives ALMOST like stock till you nail it)
PCM reprogramed
160* Tstat... these cars LOVE to run COLD
and a few other lil tweaks and parts changes that he really did need, but did it as he didn't wanna dig deeper in the engine:
52mm TB
F-body MAF sensor
30Lbs injectors
wait... what did you ask? :)

opps... 0-60, I'd have to say, right around 7 seconds. Top speed, about 150.
I just took my all stock 94 Squad car to the track, thing was hauling!!
14.86, at 91.66
TB-bypass
cut up stock air-box
K$N filter
Home Base Delete
275/50/15 Drag radials(26" tall, vs stock's 28")
blown posi, with 3.08's
hacked off drivers tail pipe(bent the fvck outta it)
Corrected to sea level, it's running about 14.7, at 94!! Which is about .15, and 1 mph faster than my Buick, and the Buick has quite a bit more stuff done to it!!
I donno why, this 90k mr good wrench engine fly's!!
