To get all around decent sound. Did most of you go with good quality interior speakers and and amp or decent interior speakers, no amp, and a sub in the trunk.
Seems that you would loose alot of the low end sound from the back speakers do to all the empty air because of the top. You probably gain some back in the front but not a ton.
Is there anyone with a vert that has end up with decent base off of just the interior speakers?

Well what did was put quality speakers all around on an amp and aftermarket headunit and then put 2 tens in the trunk. It sounded absolutly amazing. But good luck trying to get any of those custom boxes to fit. I found hatch boxes that fit awesome in the hole though. They are for sale since i got rid of the car. $200 its yours. Comp Kicker CVR 10's in q logic boxes that were both sealed and ported. Tuned to match subs. If you want them PM me. Keep in mind also that with the added noise of a convert you will need lots of power and good speakers.

^Thanks for the help.
Basically just trying to decide the route I want to take. Just bought some Alpine Type R two ways for the back, and components for the front. Started to put them and realized the aftermarket H/U is way underpowered and they sound like *&^*.
Had planned on installing an amp just not NOW. Looks like ill be installing and Alpine 4 channel this weekend to power the speakers. Im hoping the combination should give it some good over all sound with at least decent base.
As for the subs ive still got the two 10's and the amp out of my old truck. No box, but I have to imagine I can find one somewhere if i wanted. I had planned on selling all of it so I wouldnt make the trunk completely worthless.
How does your system sound without the subs?

sounded like shit. But infinity are not know for bass to start with. Get some baffles to put behind the speakers. Also if you put speakers in the back you will have to top mount them and use shallow basket drivers. I didnt want to take up my trunk either so i bought a hidaway. Well that was 125 down the drain. Doesnt fit due to the top pump.

The comment about how it sounded without the subs isnt what I wanted to hear. Lol.
Ive already put the ones in the back. Top mounted as you mentioned. I was going to ask about baffles but to me it would be tough to get enough clearance for the top to get by. Have you put baffles in yours?

i dont have the car anymore, but my cousin put baffles in hers and it sounded loads better. Make sure you get small baffles for the back that are barely bigger. For the front get a standard. It should make it sound much better. Also tuning is a major factor in what you will be making them things put out. The stock alpine in my jaguar has lots of bass and is all stock w/o a sub. So its capable of it

Part way through the install and I have got a question. I cannot seem to find a good way to route the amp wiring from the battery through the firewall.
Has anyone found a good way to pass it through? Im debating on running it through the wheel well.
Thanks for the help.

no, there is a grommet that you can put it through that is right around the ECM. Pull the carpet back and you will see it. It was big enough for me to run 4 guauge. Wish i could remeber more details. But there is a correct and safe way to run it that will look good.

This might be the way that was just posted...
The way Ive always done it, is to take the computer on the passenger side engine compartment loose,(its just one bolt, I think a 7 or 8 mm) and just push it aside, and youll see down in that crevice a rubber grommit that goes to the inside of the vehicle.Poke your wire through and put the computer back in place.Thats the cleanest and safest ways to do it. Please dont route it through door....youll be replacing your wire in a couple of months. And it looks ghetto.

Hey Ryan
What did you decide to go with?
My buddy has a big sub mounted where the spare tire would be. I asked him how it sounds he said like crap. Guess the top muffles to much of the sound from coming through.
I was thinking of pulling out the plastic divider separating the roof and trunk and putting in a box on that shelf with like 4-5 5 1/4" for base but again it would be blasting the roof (since it is down 80% of the time) Figure any good sound will have to come from the interior speakers.
