Ok, on my 95 TA I just put a new belt on upon initial start up and a new tensioner. Old AC, PS & Alt. The only half way performance 6 rib 64 1/4" belt I could get within a day was a Dayco Poly Clog one from Advanced Auto. Well, when it started up w/ a older battery it squealed a lot. I just thought the alt was doing some mad charging. I'd have to put the charger on it everytime when i wanted it to start. So I got a new battery and a week later it still squeaks. So...go and buy some belt dressing, spray it on .. (i hate using that stuff but my gatorback won't be in untill friday  ) About 10 minutes later its back to sqeaking again. So i stop and spray it down again..... another 10 minutes its squeaking again. So are Dayco's really that big a POS or is there something that i'm missing. My father being the old school hardcore mechanic says "a worn alt pulley will cause some belts to squeak" i'm almost positive he's thinking about a V groove pulley. Its not the alternator being the fact that its squealing while a lubricant/dressing is applied. The belt originally looked a little hard/light colored so i soaked it right before I cut it off tonight. Whats going on here!?! Mr. Dayco belt is about to find out what Mr. Starting fluid & Mr. Bic will do to it :coffee: Because Harriet Tubman doesn't take no stuff

They are just that crappy. I had the same problem. Only other thing i can think of is, are your alt. braces installed?

Sorry to hear your having issues with an Advanced Auto Part .. But there is a quick and easy solution !! ... Go to the permatex isle on the bottom shelf is a white bottle with a green lable .... Caliper Slide Lube--- Place a small dab ( dime size)on the ribbed side{ No slow not that kinda dime }... one time only ' you'll never need to mess with it again !! Your belt will never squeal again .. True story :LS1LT1flag:

No :( I said screw the one on the bottom left hand corner that bolts to the head/factory manifold. I didn't feel like finding a spacer, screwing a stud in, then putting that on after I already installed the acc. bracket & Alternator.... I got lazy Slow... But i mean c'mon...its sitting in a bracket itself, w/ 2 on the intake. It doesn't wiggle the first bit when reved on. Would that make that much of a diff? :dontknow:

Sorry Rich.. I accidentially hit Edit instead of Reply... i need sleep :(

You are fine. I didnt use the manifold one either. BUt the intake ones are important. so it just the belt.

it is a combination between your belt and the alternator bracket/ worn pulley. The grooves in the alternator are starting to wear due to your alternator not being supported. By a new belt and try and get that support back opn and it will stop. (+1 for me a rocker)

Good advice, but its aligned just fine and it dont' squeak no more. Guess it just had to get broken in or something. I'll tell you what, the gatorback is comming in tomorrow, If i put it on and it squeaks i'll do what you said, then if your advice works i'll give you the rocker

Gatorback done the trick part # 4060642 for a 64.25" 6 rib belt. That is the stock size belt, just incase anybody else wants to know
