I bought a hot wire kit for the fuel pump on my 01 Camaro from FullThrottleSpeed a few months ago and am now installing it since the car is up in the air for other things.

The instructions say "This is a very easy install." However, there's a 4 pin weatherpack that interfaces with the car's harness. That 4 pin connector is nowhere to be found. The wires to the fuel pump and gauge come through the floor pan in front of the axle and make a short trip up the back of the tank where they disappear. I've been told the 4 pin connector I need to hook into is up there on top of the tank.

Can anyone here verify that there is a connector that looks like the one I have picture below? I need to know that you actually saw the connector and what would make it better is if you saw it on a car of my year.

I don't want to cut a hole in my car for an access hatch. I really hate the idea of pulling the tank down just for this but that is probably what I will have to do if I want this kit to work.

If the weatherpack is indeed on top of the tank then I need all the advice I can get to protect the filler neck and any other thing I will overlook.

Thanks for any help.

No one has experience with this connector or the best way to access it? Hasn't anyone else here installed this hotwire kit?

I'm not familiar with the kit. I did a RaceTronix pump&boost-a-pump kit last year and I know you had to re-pin the connector to get it to work.

Can you give me some idea where this connector is on top of the tank?

I have called fullthrottlespeed and the claim is it can be reached without dropping the tank down. If anything, I would only need to disconnect one strap and pull the tank down a quarter inch. I've released the strap and pulled the tank down about an inch. Still cannot find the plug by feel. Thanks for the reply.

Unless I'm missing totally what you are looking at..the harness from the tank connects to a junction on the underside of the car on the driver's side toward the front of the tank. That's where I had to re-pin to make the Racetronix kit work.

That's the electrical connector bulkhead through the floor pan. I think when GM went to the plastic tanks there was a change made for the power connector that is up on top. Our wiring configuration is different. I think I need to pull the tank down to get a look or at least to be able to reach up there far enough to feel something. I really do appreciate your replies - thanks.

here's the connector I was asking about. What a job this has turned out to be.

I had to drop the tank and roll it to get to the pump hanger

I just installed a new pump, I just put a new rear in and did not care to remove it, I found this site and it took about 10 minutes to cut the hole with a die grinder with a cutting wheel Iwill just glue down a piece of sheet metal when completed. Check this site.http://www.geocities.com/formulapower2/fuelpump.htmlhttp
