Forged pistons with a deeper dish for a lower compression ratio are pretty much a MUST in my opinion if you want to run boost on the LT1.

yea, if you are looking for good power and don't want your motor to pop, the bottom will need work to be reliable...i however just plan on blowing up the first one and in that process saving for the 383 forged bottom end. From everything i have gathered tho, you should be able to run 5-6psi without to much hassle/strain.

Congratulations btw, im super jealous.

Who are you getting your kit through, and what one...

and how much if you don't mind my asking...

well you can run up to 8 psi MAX on the lt1. that should put down some MUCH better power. with a stock lt1 and a p1sc intercooled at 7 psi ati dynoed a car a camaro at like 410 hp. and 480 ft./lbs. i think. i was pretty impresses! id run the stock 7 psi pulley unless you KNOW your motor can handle the extra pound or two. you could always do a few other tricks to run some more boost though... double gasket the heads, port and polish the heads, get a forged rotating assembly, or get high CC chambers!

very nice though congrats man i loved mine. VERY quick. it goes to the track friday ill keep you guys updates and let you know the slips from the kid who has it now (now subframes, differant TCI streetfighter, roll cage, 315's, shift kit, built trans, etc.). should be low 12's

I would reccomend getting a BTM (see sticky in FI section). Also, shouldn't this thread be in the FI section?

whats a btm ?

boost timing module. Get the msd one, its pretty much the best on the market. Basically it allows you to retard your timing by upto 3 degrees via a knob or dial you can mount in the cabin. This helps clear up some detonation, and increases the longevity of your setup. (basically quoting sniggles from the FI sticky...)

yes the 7lb pulleys come with the kit. And stick with those ones untill you can beef up that bottom end.

And thats a damn good price for that kit new. Lucky.

Edited to clarify BTM description.

i think the procharger kits come with an ignition system so you can retard your timing already. atleast mine did. anyways... you can always put the 8-rib/8 lb. pulley on and get a manual or electronic boost controller that way you can set it where you want! but since you have the standard either 5.5 rib or 7 rib you wont have to worry about that :) congrats again!
