Looking For a 98+ Trans Am

Ive been dieing to find a car like this for a long time and now i should be able to afford one.

so im basically looking for a cheapishh Trans Am, 1998 and newer, with a Manual tranny

and im not to sure about the ram air, i really like the look of it but i would consider a none ram air version if the price is right


and by the way im from canada where trans ams are amazingly expensive.... so the less driving id have to do the better :)

Depends on how heavy your foot is. I been doin about 14mpg in the city lately in the LS1 A4. I baby my LT1 quite a bit and it's an M6 so it gets me about 16mpg.

This guy.^^^^ He doesnt know what he is saying. He thinks an LS1 is faster then an LT1. I get about 9 mpg around town and 12-15 on the fre way. I have bigger injectors though.

piff its kinda funny how u can make 4 cylinders put out more power then 8 tho.... i always chuckle at that

but its gotta get at least comparable fuel mileage to my Honda cause its only got 98 horsepower (if that still) and its carbed :S and about 3000 pounds (real steel lol)

so im pretty sure that a 6 speed in that beast should get comparable milage just not in the city

Ummm...if money is an issue...I don't recommend spending money on a honda to make it faster than an LS1. That would cost a lot and no matter how fast it is...it's still a honda.

Ehh, It would be pretty damn hard to make an N/A 4 banger put out as much power as an LS1...and if you did, it sure as hell wouldn't be streetable.

trust me im not a Honda fan boy.... the only reason i like my car is because it gets good gas mileage and i have a kicking stereo :)

and ya its falling apart which is why i dont want another Honda annnnd there super expensive to fix

oh and another reason why i like my car..... it has 474000 kms on it....

so dont bash hondas cause they run for ever.... weve rebuilt the tranny and thats it.. everything is completely stock except for ball joints :S which let go while we were driving on a bridge :S

297062 miles aint to bad for a little honda. If you had more than a wopping 88HP and 7.8:1 compression ration it would not last so long. Like i siad...you have to pay to play or your left looking gay (in a honda) :roflmao:

I would say Fbodys hold up exceptionally when you take into consideration how much they're abused because of the type of car they are.

Not sure where the ca is with the dollar right now, but 10k dollars will buy a pretty decent LS1.

Best thing is to look on sites like theses for a good deal. I just called on an LS1 TA in Texas that was 6500 with a rebuilt T56.

and damn Texans with their cheap cars..... i would settle for a a 92-97 if it was ws6 ram air but i really want the ls1 with ram air cause it just looks so bad ass lol

I wouldn't base your buying decesion souly off it being a WS6/Ramair. performance wise there is no real advantage, and for looks you can have it done for about a 1000-1200 (on the high side.)

If you have the money I would also go with an LS1 if possible. They have a big power advantage, and are a bit more reliable. (I know someone is goin quote this in the LT1/LS1 debate thread :( )

Maybe you can talk him down some. There is also a really clean LT1 ramair with a lot of mods at the top of the cars for sale section. But he wants to much for the LT1 IMO.

Usually they also want you to show a stable work history over a year or two.
