Default What exactly are "salad shooter" rims?

I'm buying some drag wheels for my car and they come mounted on 'salad shooter' rims. I've heard this term several times but don't know exactly which rims we're talking about. Would they be the ones mounted on this car: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Conve...QQcmdZViewItem

Also curious as to how they got their nick name?

Sorry for the stupid questions, I'm still sort of a newbie to these F-bodys.

So 'salad shooters' are specific to Camaros only? Just because he said F-bodys and he has a Trans Am so I was thinking they were some sorta stock Firebird wheels.

Well they'll obvious fit either, I have Camaro Salad Shooters on my ET Streets, but yeah the term "salad shoote" is supposed to refer just to that specific Camaro wheel.

I usually hear the 'bird wheels referred to as swirls.

The ones on the 'bird in the ebay add were specific to V6 cars and were 16x7 as opposed to 16x8, so not the best wheel to mount a drag radial.

And the term "Salad Shooter" comes from the wheel's similarity to this:
http://www.pressurecooker-outlet.com/saladshooter.htm, as in it looks like it could chop carrots....

Hahaha, that's hysterical! Thanks for clearing that up!! He just said that salad shooters were like stock ugly rims from 94-96 F-bodys so I wasnt sure what he was referring to and curious as to what they looked like. They have MT E.T.s on 'em so they'll only be used at the track anyway. Cool!

These might be what you're talking about. Most people I know have called these Firebird "swirl" rims, not salad shooters

Picked up the wheels today. The rims were "swirl" altho this guy referred to them as salad shooters...not that it really matters to me I just wanted some slicks for the summer and was curious what they were.

Can't wait to try 'em out!
