Default LT1 horse power

Does anyone know how true this is? 1993-1995 LT1 horse power is 275 horse. But car craft did a dyno test on the 93-94 and the horse power was 301.

You need to realize the differences in rated HP vs dyno HP. Was this dyno a chassis test or did they have the engine on a stand? SAE net HP or was this gross HP (no accessories)?

If your point is to be able to prove you really have 301 hp, I think you're wasting your time looking at magazines. Go get the car on a chassis dyno and get some real world numbers.

The 275hp rating was pretty honest/close to reality. The LT1 was not underrated like the LS1 was.

Its 275 to the crank, they might have dynoed a stock engine with a tune, i have seen several threads about the tune on a stock engine freeing up an extra 20ish hp.

But the valid question above is, was it on an engine dyno or a chassi dyno?

275 Rated HP at the Crank...period. Like Chris said go get dyno'd. I wouldnt even try until your up in the 400's. Who cares if its runnin 275 to 300 HP 25 hp is a noticeable difference but not that much to concerned with such a difference. Its a valid question though for sure...275 is the answer.
